“God’s One Thing”

When David’s one thing met God’s one thing, destiny exploded. Heaven erupted.

David wanted to dwell with God.

God wanted to dwell with man.

In 2 Samuel 7, David touches the biggest passion of God’s heart.

To dwell.

David’s dream was prophetic, unheard of, an idea no one had thought of before.

You would build me a house to dwell in?”

God then promised David that the coming Messiah, His very own Son will come from David’s family line and His Kingdom will be established on David’s throne forever.

It makes me wonder: To what type of generation will God send His Son to the earth for the second and final time?

Surely a king doesn’t return to his kingdom lest his people are ready to receive him.

Surely a groom doesn’t appear to his wedding unless his bride is in love.

But a lovesick bride, a desperate people, surely affect Heaven’s timeline and the Bridegroom’s return.

David moved past what is normal and accelerated the divine. This is the nature of men after God’s heart. This is the nature of the Davidic generation.

Let it be said of us.
